Sharon has been collecting rocks and crystals since she was a child. Growing up she searched for crystals and unique rocks in the creek bed near her house, she kept her findings in a little rock box that she decorated herself. The box is made of wood and painted a lilac purple, she added stickers from her favorite princesses at the time. Now her box is old and faded, the stickers are almost unrecognizable. About 10 years ago Sharon found the box in her parent's attic and she began collecting crystals again. Sharon owned a bookstore and did Angel card readings on the side; she began bringing her crystals to the readings to promote a healing and safe atmosphere. Her crystals became popular with customers, and she was often asked if she sold them. Since she already had experience in business, she started her own crystal shop. At first she sold crystals out of her apartment, an open house would be held about twice a month for customers to come in and shop. She later moved her shop to Bodhisattva Yoga Studio for convenience until April of 2018. In April of 2018 Sharon opened her own crystal shop at 212 East Street Bloomsburg PA. Her shop is located at a great location, students walking down from Bloomsburg University have a perfect view of her beautiful shop. Sharon’s crystals has the largest selection of tumble of rough stone crystals in the area and she also offers tarot readings, reiki readings, music readings, angel readings, and life coach services. Sharon informed me that she will soon be offering $10 meditation classes, these classes are made affordable for college students.
Customers entering the shop come across a wall of shelves on the right, that are neatly cluttered with hundreds of crystals. These crystals contain all types including smokey quartz, pyrite, chrysocolla, amethyst, tigers' eye, rainbow fluorite, and many more. The crystals range from all shapes and sizes, there is also a wide variety of towers and spheres. Towers are crystals that are shaped like a tower, they are often skinny and tall. Spheres are just like they sound, crystal in the shape of a circle or ball. The shelves overlap onto the wall directly in front of the door. These shelves are also completely filled with many different types of crystals and crystal jewelry. This self contains mostly small crystals neatly placed into bowls labeled with their name and purpose. There is a beautiful variety of bracelets to choose from on the wall, all handmade and special. The bracelets are made from many different crystals including rose quartz, smokey obsidian, garnet, aquamarine, amethyst, and many more. Each of these bracelets are unique, no one is the same as the other. To the left of the shop is a beautiful wooden case sealed with glass. Inside are labeled glass bowls filled with tumble stones. Most of the crystals placed in the case are rare but some are placed in there due to their small size. Some rare stones in the box include larimar, moldavite, orpiment, seraphinite, and Libyan desert glass. As you make your way to the back of the shop there is a shelf filled with educational books and cards. Some of the books include The Crystal Bible, Wings of Forgiveness, Bridging Two Realms, and Treasure Hunter’s Gem & Mineral Guide. These books are some of the best spiritual and crystal books, they are easy to read and the information in them is all correct, no biased opinions. The shelf also has multiple different types of tarot cards and spiritual card sets, any of the employees will gladly help you choose the right set.
While I was browsing the store taking pictures and reading the books my friend Jess was looking for a new necklace. As she was meticulously looking for the perfect necklace, she noticed a shiny pink bracelet that was sitting alone near the necklace display. She picked up the bracelet and held it into the sun. The sun's rays bounced off the bracelet creating a beautiful beam of light. Sharon walked up to Jess and said, “That’s rose quartz, it’s one of the crystals that I believe everyone should wear.” she paused and squeezed Jess’s arm in a polite inviting manner “Rose quartz brings you self-love and love from a significant other. I think it is important to have because it will help balance out your mind and heart.”
“No need for a box, I'm just going to wear them” she insists. Sharon smiles and hands Jess her jewelry.
Jess smiles and looks back at her “I love it! I was wondering, do you have it in a necklace?”
Sharon replied “Yes, I have lots.'' She walked Jess over to the wall across from the window and showed her a beautiful arrangement of necklaces. “Here is what I have now, I always get new items and I never know what I'm getting so I could be getting more soon”
Jess smiled and began browsing the necklaces. The necklaces range in all shapes and sizes, some were big, chunky rough stones while others were smooth pendants. Handmade wire wrap necklaces and sliced crystal necklaces were also part of the arrangement. Jess picked out a small rose quartz pendant necklace, it is a pretty light pink shiny crystal. By the time Jess picked out a necklace I had already finished shopping for myself, she walked up to the desk to pay with both her necklace and bracelet. Sharon was so pleased to see that Jess was able to find what she was looking for.
“Thank you so much” exclaims Jess, “I love them I don’t think I’m going to take them off” Sharon let out a little chuckle.
